Damaged Internal Hard Drive

I had read somewhere that if you were to put the date on your mac before December 2007, that you would be able to install boot camp beta. I downloaded the installer and as I am partitioning my disk my computer comes up with a grey screen saying I have to manually restart. So I hold down the power button and when I try to partition again once I turn the computer back on, it says that the hard drive is damaged. I go to disk utility and I repair the permissions, but the repair button for the disk is shaded out. How do I repair my disk?

Sounds like you had a kernel panic while you bootcamp was resizing/partitioning your drive. Any kind of interruption during this kind of operation is bad news. Your drive isn't physically damaged, but your data is potentially at risk. If you have backups of your files elsewhere the easiest thing to do is wipe and reinstall. Note that you will have to use the disk utility to wipe the drive.

If you need to recover data you are going to need to purchase some sort of recovery software. I'm a long time PC user and not familiar with what software is available for macs, so hopefully someone else can help with that if needed.
