So I damaged my ipad pro 11 inch. It damaged the metal housing and it looks like the screen is starting to separate from it. I have APP+. My question is if I take it to an apple store, will they replace it same day? The closest apple store is 2 hours from me. If they are just going to mail it out and make me wait, then I will just do that myself. But, if I can it get it replaced same day then it may be worth the drive to me.

Anyone have any experience with damaged ipads?

Make sure you schedule an appointment first before going to the Apple Store. With the damage you described and since you have Apple Care Plus, I suspect that Apple may just decide to swap out the iPad for another - after you pay the deductible. I don't know if they'll give you a new one or refurbished.

If you have Apple Care Plus, just do what every Youtuber does for views, They Buy it day One, film themselves smashing it to pieces, and then take to Apple for a replacement. And they get hundreds of dollars from views and money. And still get a new iPad Pro replacement. I’m not condoning this.

That’s sadly true...

I would not condone this either. However, if the issue is legitimately accidental, then that is what AppleCare is for. OP's post doesn't lead me to believe that the damage was intentional.

How many here has apple care for their iPads? I’ve never it but may get it with my next iPhone but never seen the need for my iPads in fairness but stories like this do exist after all.

I get it for my iPad and iPhone's. Also for my MacBook. Spending over 1k for these devices, I think it's worth the price. I did an express replacement for my iPhone X 18 months in for a battery issue. Got a replacement device in a couple days that was good as new.

I have it for my iPad. It is only $5.99 per month on my 1TB model that I paid for outright. I’d be silly not to have it.

Refurbished apple products are better than new.

Why wouldn't you consider it for iPad if you get it for iPhone? In my case I prefer to get it on any device that is a decent amount of money. My iPad cost just as much as my iPhone. I don't take it out of the house quite as often as my phone but on the other hand it is a bit easier to drop as it doesn't fit in your hands as easy as a smaller phone. Mainly I do it for piece of mind, I didn't get it for my watch 3 as it is a smaller replacement cost.

Because generally iPads aren’t in your hands in moments that should damage your device like you would with an iPhone

iPads are generally on a sofa and a desk so chances are you won’t need it like you could Witt your iPhone

Not always. I dropped my iPad off of the stationary bike at the gym...bent the frame. AppleCare+ covered the replacement for $50. Got a new one on the spot...

I just use my extended coverage from my credit card. Gives me another year of warranty and also covers theft and / or damage.

iPad at the gym? That’s good you got it sorted but most wouldt take it there in fairness. But if you do then it’s certainly worth getting for you
