I just ran into that issue. I moved my .me to iCloud then realized I couldn't access contacts and calendars.

I ended up restoring. Signing into iCloud with my .me. Then I signed out of the store and signed in with my ID that is accociated with my dev account and music.

Kind of a merge. Still a pain in the ass.

That would be ideal. I sent apple feedback on the issue. Maybe if enough people do, someone will see it and fix the "problem".

Apple have stated since the start of the beta that you cannot merge ID's, it's been in all their dev notes on it and the transition documents.

That said, i want them to let me merge mine dammit!

Apple said:
If I use different accounts for iTunes and MobileMe, can I merge them into a single account and use it with iCloud?
No. You cannot merge two accounts into one. However, you will be able to move your MobileMe account (yourname@me.com) to iCloud and, if you choose, you can continue to use a different iTunes account for store purchases and iTunes in the Cloud.

Can't you just go to appleid.apple.com and change your email to your @me account?

No. I tried that in 09 when I signed up w/ MobileMe. MobileMe is automatically an apple ID so they won't let you. Error says, "already an apple id".

Just keep complaining to Apple, I sent a quick note to SJ and Apple Support. I know it will do nothing, but if enough people complain it will.

It is STUPID that I own the same Apple ID and MM/iC accounts, yet I can't merge them simply to have one iCloud Apple ID.

Apple needs to realize they will lose potential customers for their iCloud service if they continue to be stubborn about doing what they do best, providing simplified yet powerful technology solutions for consumers.

Unfortunately Apple does not allow any changes. They are set in their ways and not about to change. This is not a new situation. It's the nature of a dictatorship. The more people complain, the more determined Apple is to say NO.

Before iCloud, it was possible to consolidate Apple ID's into a single account provided that Apple ID's are in the form of email addresses.

With the birth of iCloud, it's all changed. Now no account consolidation is allowed whatsoever.

I highly doubt Apple will ever change their stance on the matter. Just gotta live with it.

I disagree. Apple tends to listen in most cases. Some examples are the matte being brought back, the ipod shuffle being changed back to having buttons, ect.

I am crossing my fingers they have already identified this as an issue and will fix it, but if they don't, they will definitely change it if enough people complain.

I agree, they aren't always the fastest to react, but at least they react unlike other companies. There must be some IT issue as to why it's not so simple.

I deal with plenty of other tech companies that respond to their customers in a very timely fashion.

This is not Rocket Science, it's a simple policy issue, that's all.

It's been this way and it's going to _stay_ this way.

It's the "Apple Way"
