Obviously I prefer the black or it wouldn't be an issue, but I feel like a damn fool for paying the premium.

Anyway, what's the consensus on keeping them clean? Is there a major difference between the two?

Bring on the alu Macbooks...! I personally think its well cheeky to charge so much more for simply a different (and better looking IMO) colour. Oh, and 40GB bigger hard drive....

There is a difference in keeping them clean. I have the Black MacBook and when my hands are dry then there are no smudges or marks or anything. But If my hands are warm or clammy then it marks quite easily. That being said, wiping it down with a damp cloth then immediately drying it cleans it like new.

If I were buying the MacBook again I would definitely get the black on again, but my next model will probably be a MacBook Pro. I just love the backlit keyboard.

Get the Blackbook as long as you don't have oily skin!

The blackbook is not hard to keep clean.

Don't feel like a fool for paying the extra $

If you get the white to 'save money' every time you look at yours you'll wish you had invested in the one you really wanted.;)

I bought a black 2Ghz after the refurbs went down in price, and there was hardly any extra for the black. At $1049 the price couldn't be beat. Since new MBs were just announced you can probably get the 2.16 model refurb for $1049 before long. That's even cheaper than the low end white!

EDIT: I have a smoke plastic shell on mine to keep off fingerprints, and it looks fantastic!

My partner bought a black MB after seeing the white and black side to side. I have to say the black looks so much better. The colours on the screen seem to pop out, it's stylish and sleek. To me the white seems dated and almost toy like by comparison. If you're concerned about finger prints on a black MB think about how the interior of the white MB ages over time, that pristine white keyboard and greyish hand rest area does discolour after a while.
