Apple Card will keep us “stuck” in Apple ecosystem, which was clear from day one.

But today Apple also “announced” their ingenious plan to make us buy iPhone every year.

Introducing YEAR-LONG TRIALS WITH DEVICE PURCHASE

Apple: “Don’t wanna pay for our services? Sure, just buy a new iPhone at the end of each year!”

I’m not sure that saving $60 is really forcing you to upgrade each year haha
True, but remember that subscription prices could always go up in the future. And year-long trials could extend to other services in the future as well in order to incentivize and justify yearly iPhone purchase even further.

I still don't understand why a person feels the need to get a new iPhone every year. In addition, Apple claim to be green yet they come up with ideas to entice consumers to trade in their iPhone every year.

They also claim to be a business. It’s a pretty ridiculous argument really. People aren’t going to be throwing their iPhone xs in landfill next Friday.

The ecosystem is saving Apple's butt. Tim knows that as long as people choose to be "stuck" there, Apple really does not have to innovate all that much. Personally, I transitioned out and it was rather painless and liberating. Not being confined to Apple's stale and stifling idea of user control has opened up a lot of ways for me to better manage my workflow.

This is something that those choosing to be stuck in the ecosystem don't often realize. There are other ways, other means to do the same kinds of things the Apple ecosystem provides. And some of those methods are better, while most are comparable.

Not having (or choosing) to rely on Apple means you aren't at their mercy.
