Gosh darn it. Because Apple's privacy / data retention policy is reasonable it has frustrated my efforts.

I wanted to scan back through some support details when I was dealing with Apple from a couple of years ago. So I thought I would be clever and download my customer data. It turns out they have deleted messages from their database going back that far.

FOILED.

Deleted, or just not available to you (the consumer)?

I’ll assume deleted, because I did that download your data thingy. My more recent communications were there, and I don’t recall seeing anything about some data may not be available.

That's not a bad thing. Is it?

No, it’s not. That’s why I said ‘reasonable’. I just found it mildly interesting and ironic I got caught with the short end of the stick over something I support.

I often use it if i have deleted some outdated stuff :) At least it's good for something.

Plus, just because these people keep saying "OMG. my data is on Google, or Apple" don' blame the companies.. blame the users for trusting them as if privacy is important, you won't be trusting anyone. I always make that claim on myself 100% and can back it up 10 times over. I do stick info out there, but only wan i wish, even on Apple.

So while i can download everything Apple has on me, i'm not scared, as none of it is accurate anyway.

Instead, i just let companies do what they want. I make be breaking gall types of agreements, but what's better? Trusting a company who ma betray you later.. or keeping a foot in the door always? If only it were not true.
