First one is hilarious. Check out my new Shuffle! :D

EDIT: Excellent work on the links. I didnt know you had to buy 'points' in $5 increments to be able to download music. It gets more hilarious. They have less songs available than iTunes along with no TV shows or movies.

http://www.smorgasbord.net/zune-sucks-top-10-reasons

Top 10 Reasons the Microsoft Zune is a Turd
  1. It's just as proprietary and closed as the iPod
  2. It won't work with any of the other Microsoft PlaysForSure Music Stores
  3. You can't use Windows Media Player to load the Zune with Music
  4. Built in Wifi connects you to other Zune's only - not wireless networks
  5. You can share songs with other Zune's over wifi, but they will auto-delete after 3 days, and you can NEVER send them to that person again
  6. It even imposes DRM and 3 day sharing limits to files YOU create add to your Zune - like mp3's from your garage band
  7. You can share music and photos with other Zune's over wifi - but NOT video
  8. The Zune store doesn't sell tv shows, movies, audio books, or have podcasts
  9. There are no additional apps, no stopwatch, no clock, no address book, etc.
  10. It comes in brown. Are they advertising it's a turd?!?

I'm curious -- are there ANY positive reviews for the Zune from any legitimate sources (ie, not Zune/MS-related sites)? Sure, most of these reviews can point out some actual decent things about the Zune, but in the end they almost all declare you're better off just sticking with the superior iPod.

Is there ANY review that actually praises a Zune OVER the iPod?

and here's another one: Chicago Sun-Times: Avoid the luny Zune

Yes, Microsoft's new Zune digital music player is just plain dreadful. I've spent a week setting this thing up and using it, and the overall experience is about as pleasant as having an airbag deploy in your face.
"Avoid," is my general message. The Zune is a square wheel, a product that's so absurd and so obviously immune to success that it evokes something akin to a sense of pity.

I've failed to see this in any electronic hardware shops here in sweden - a pretty large town mind you - they (microsoft) is really pushing it to the savvy crowd (no, not even a commercial (apple isn't advertising here either, but atleast the ipod is well known))

How has clevin not found this thread yet?

im glad i got some fame here, LOL, Im just tired of this, whatever u wanna say, market will tell in next 6 month, jumping on a product that was out for less than two weeks, and denounce any new feature it has, while attack without personality isn't good, if someone want to do it, Im not gonna stop him, LOL, its like more about reviewer's bias than the facts.

It really does suck though. Market popularity doesn't mean anything. Look how many people bought Geo Metros... they sold quite well for a few years.

Look how many people bought PowerMac 5200s. That is generally considered, by far, the worst product Apple ever made.

That's actually my favorite one so far.

I love that review, I was actually going to start a thread on it, when I searched and saw your thread. I think the author (Andy Ihnatko) doesn't come off as an Apple fanboy, he just gives solid reason's why the Zune is a disaster.

Excellent thread idea - there are so many reviews, its just easier to link 'em all in 1 thread instead of having seperate threads.

This story is my favorite too...This line actually made me laugh out loud!

Ouch!

Ohhh and near the end...
The Zune is a complete, humiliating failure. Toshiba's Gigabeat player, for example, is far more versatile, it has none of the Zune's limitations, and Amazon sells the 30-gig model for 40 bucks less.

Throw in the Zune's tail-wagging relationship with music publishers, and it almost becomes important that you encourage people not to buy one.

So you're saying that if the Zune had OS X support, you'd prefer it over an iPod simply because the Zune has a built-in radio?

If radio were important to me, I'd much rather spend the extra $50 and get an iPod + the FM radio add-on than having to deal with all of the Zune crap that keeps coming up in media review after media review.

FM radios have been in MP3 players for years now. One of those MP3 players has got to support OS X. Why don't you buy one of them?

Shouldn't Microsoft had made the damn thing Plug N Play compatible?

I didn't think Microsoft could screw up THIS bad, but wow...

Welp, good thing I'm getting a 80 GB Black iPod.

well, FM radio is what i listen most, much more than msuc, but practically, how can I not like a big screen and Wi-Fi? plus, I hate spending extra for same function.

Im still waiting, either for Zune to spt OSX, or for iPod to update to big screen, Wi-Fi and Build-in Radio,

To be honest, i think at least one of them is very near.

my sentiments exactly.

i don't agree with all the Zune baiting. it's really showing MR up to be a childish place, and that's not what it should be. just let it tank, and move on.
