Hey everyone - just wondering if my new iPad screen is working normally. There’s a grey halo around the edge.

Good to hear. I’m taking it to the apple store because the apple support people said to.

Apple support will eventually catch up to the technology as they begin to see complaints from consumers. Right now it's doubtful their scripts even begin to discuss the limitations of this display.

For now you'll be asked to take them in, the "genii" will look at it and say "well that can't be right" get you a new one, open it, look at it and say "wow, it's on this one too..." then they will look at the models on display and see they all have this and offer you a refund.

This is literally what happened.

I honestly don’t even notice it anymore, just give it some time. Yes I can go looking for it, but I honestly don’t mind the shadow :)

I am finding this pretty distracting - wondering if there is any diversity of this or are they all literally the same? I am in the UK so it’s hard to compare my device to someone else’s, but after all the buzz around how amazing the screen is, I am surprised that there is such a dramatic drop off on the edges.

If it's any comfort, the prior Pro models were not always very consistent in backlight quality. I have a 2018 11 inch that is evenly lit, but my 12.9 2018 has definite darkening at the display edges and my prior 12 inch iPad had a similar issue.

It's nothing that troubles me too much or even see unless I'm reading a Kindle book with a pure white page background.

I’m not really bothered by it and don’t really notice it in day to day use. It’s not like we are constantly looking at the edges when using the iPad. Actually, it helps with the transition of the screen to bezels ?

Still love the device!
