Dark Mode only affects menu bar

Hey, so ever since Yosemite 10.10.4, I've had this weird problem with Dark Mode where enabling it only makes the menu bar dark, and Spotlight and Dock stay as they are. Also, the menu bar switching to dark mode doesn't affect any of the apps, and they don't turn to white. So date, time, battery level, dropbox etc. all stay black, which makes them nearly invisible. Only the dropdown menus on the left seem to be affected by dark mode.

I've tried to restart with dark mode enabled, I've tried installing El Capitan with dark mode enabled, and nothing has fixed it. I was wondering if anyone here has also experienced this or can let me know which preferences I should delete to fix this.

It seems that dark mode users are more for developers, not many for conventional users when they were introduced.
And since many developing tools have their own dark theme, apple's dark mode is just the last piece of the puzzle.

Upgrade. The issue first arose in on public beta 10.10.4, and persisted as I went > public beta 10.11 > gold master 10.11 > public beta 10.11.1 > release 10.11 via the Mac App Store.

You have installed the release version of 10.11 on top of 10.11.1 beta, downgrading from 10.11.1 to 10.11? I don't think it is supported. The operating system consists of many different components, when you install a new version, the installer overwrites the older ones with the newer ones. Installing something that technically is an older version (10.11) over a newer one (10.11.1) does not overwrite the components with higher version numbers, leaving you with a mess. I think your only sure option is to do a clean install. Or, you might wait for the official 10.11.1 update (or a next beta) to be released.

I guess you should save all your stuff on an external HD and clean install.

I always save my ~/ to an external HDD and do clean installs for major version updates.

It's a habit from before I saw the light and switched to apple.

Why doesn't dark mode affect all windows etc? Just like in all Adobe CC apps: Everything dark, which makes it nice if you are working late.

It's probably too much of a hassle for them to implement dark mode themes in all of their applications. I would be content if they implemented dark mode for the right-click menus system-wide though, since it doesn't match the right-clicking of apps in the dock.

Thanks! Already using for a year or two. But even on the lowest brightness, my MBP is sometimes too bright at night.

Adobe can do it too, so why not apple? With the flat design, all they have to do is invert the colors, that's it. Really hoping for a dark mode in OSX 10.12
