Any sign of a Dark Mode feature coming?
Has anybody come across it in the Beta releases

Enough about dam dark mode
Easy big fella. It’s one of the most requested features for the upcoming overhaul. This is also a forum, which is here for discussion of such things.

That said, in no way do I condone starting a new thread when there’s probably pages worth full of posts saying “nay”. Really OP, you’ve clearly been around for a while. Don’t you think somebody would have said something by now? Maybe started a thread that would likely have been stickied?

I’d even make a stretch and say there’d probably be a front page article or two.

If dark mode doesn’t come to iOS 13 I’ll be shocked. All the signs are there. Mojave has it. Rumours of a visual overhaul. Apple do listen to popular demand too- grouped notifications is one recent example, I think.

That‘s exactly what @dan9700 meant with „Enough about dam dark mode“...

That’s not how I interpreted it. It read more like “quit talking about it” to me, which is not what I’m saying at all.

Well „quit talking about it“ for the reasons you‘ve stated. There are more than enough threads already and if it would‘ve been announced or if something would‘ve been found in beta code that suggests it comes soon, then it‘d be all over the internet.

Nope but still would be nice. Would increase battery life significantly. I just think it’s too difficult to implement since many 3rd party apps won’t be able to adapt to it.

I care more about a customized iPhone 10 UI... for example... notifications lighting up but rest of the screen remaining dark. They’re not taking advantage of the OLED at all.

Not in iOS 12 betas and I doubt they’d add a feature like that to a major release half way through its life. iOS 13 will most likely have it though.

Have you tried smart invert? I use it at night sometimes and it definitely keeps things darker.

Dark Mode could be one of their secret reveal features.

Could even be an Xs exclusive.

Anything is possible, but you have to ask why they wouldn’t have done this last year with the advent of true-black OLED screens on the X.

I’d say because the X was an all new redesign. Where as the XS is gonna be the same damn thing. So I’m reality they need something to wow people. Not saying they are gonna to release dark mode today. Just saying that would be one reason they would this year vs last year.

No, dark mode is a feature that needs time for developers to implement. The only reasons to hold back features at WWDC and reveal them at the iPhone launch is because they’re hardware dependent on the new iPhones. Otherwise it’s much preferred to give developers time during a beta period.

Firstly, any hardware requirement for dark mode would be bogus imo. But a more understandable one would be an OLED requirement, for true blacks. But the X had that last year. If the feature comes to the X, it could have been announced at WWDC. If it doesn’t, that’s extremely unreasonable.

Also, if OLED is a requirement, does that mean it doesn’t come to the new ‘cheap’ LCD iPhone? Also a bad move.

You think it’s an exception that the Xs will be the ‘same damn thing’ as last year. You could argue that about most new iPhones. Yet they still manage to trickle in enough performance improvements and new treats. They’ll do that this year without having to introduce a non-hardware dependent feature at an iPhone launch for the first time ever(?)
