I'm sure this is just a coincidence but has anyone else noticed that ever since Apple bought Dark Sky it loads incredibly slowly on all platforms? Especially slow to load is the Precipitation Forecast overlay for the map. Today I left it open on my iMac. The actual rainstorm came and left long before the Forecast overlay loaded. Not much good if the actual weather arrives before the forecast loads.

If you're wondering about my bandwidth, here's results from Ookla. I'm in Thailand. I selected a server in Los Angeles, CA:

I've been using the Dark Sky iOS app for a long time, and don't have any loading time issues. The website forecasts will be gone as of 7/1.

I’m very happy for you.

This after seven minutes with Dark Sky on an iPad. It’s rainy season in Southeast Asia so it should show rain just about everywhere. But, as you can see, after seven minutes even the map has not been fully downloaded.

Why did you select the CA based server? Do you know for an absolute certainly that's exactly the only location where the Dark Sky data is being served from?

Besides, that speed test means absolutely nothing when it comes to individual app performance, even if the data was being served from that region.

I searched Dark Sky for "Thailand" and it doesn't come up as a location available for the app. Perhaps that's why you're not getting data for that area. I also looked up other SEA locations and see the message that radar is not available.

I picked California just to demonstrate that my international bandwidth is OK. I have no idea where the Dark Sky servers are located. I included bandwidth data in anticipation of someone telling me that the Dark Sky problem was probably because of limited bandwidth.

I searched Dark Sky for "Thailand" and it doesn't come up as a location available for the app. Perhaps that's why you're not getting data for that area. I also looked up other SEA locations and see the message that radar is not available.

Until recently Dark Sky worked fine here. Although it doesn't use radar data that is readily available for Thailand, its Precipitation Forecast map overlay has always been very accurate and quick to load.

If you have a look at the RainViewer: Weather Radar app for iOS (or their web page) you'll see that Thailand has fairly good weather radar coverage. I have no idea why Dark Sky doesn't bother to use it.

I've attached a Dark Sky screen shot from when it was working OK. As you can see, it does cover Thailand and the rest of Southeast Asia.

A simple question. Is Dark Sky available also in Europe (Italy in my case)? I cannot find on Italian iOS App Store...
