Has anyone found a way to make this work again? I know it worked on earlier versions of OSX, but it doesn't seem to work on Mountain Lion.

Any help would be appreciated!

You gave me links on how to do it on older versions of OSX. On Mountain Lion, after you drag the widget onto the desktop it disappears.
They specifically mentioned ML, so I thought they might help. Here's another that may or may not help: Have Widgets in Desktop

There doesn't seem to be a lot of information available on this.

I have just used the older steps again, I just got my computer back from the apple store. I had the harddrive replaced new os install. the widgets did disappear like you said. log out and log back in and the widgets are on the desktop. Now the question what widgets are useful. I just have the weather and radar in motion.
