Okay, I just got a new mini and am using the owc data doubler kit. The mini arrived with the hdd in the "upper tray," meaning it was on the bottom when working on my upside down mini.

I slid the mobo out just a touch to get the ssd in there, bent the owc data doubler cable to fit, and all is good.

I try to put the wifi vent back, and it won't fit into place. I see that the screws that go through the wifi vent are attached to nuts. I cannot get these nuts off! Anyone have tips? I wd40'd them, but no go. If I try any harder, I fear I am going to strip the top of the bolts.

----------

Scratch that, after using pliers on the torx t8, and putting down my purse, I got it. Either way, I'm glad I did the wd40. I know that it's not recommended on computers, but I had the wifi about 60 feet from the mini when I applied it. :)

I don't have this exact problem, but I'm having a hard time getting the vent to line up for one side of the screws to go in. The vent is poorly designed.

I fidgeted with the vent for a good 10 minutes. The problem was that I wasn't keeping the top of the vent above the aluminum case.

To be more descriptive, the aluminum vent looks like a small "C" from a profile view that wraps around the aluminum. I was missing wrapping the C shape around the aluminum because I was pushing the vent while the vent was too low on one side. Lift it up just a touch to get it into place snugly.

You need to bend the leading edge of the curved side of the wifi grill slightly so there is a little more space between the leading edge and second inside curved inside edge. The leading edge goes under the alloy unibody chassis, while the second edge goes on the outer side of the edge of the unibody chassis edge. There is only a very fine lip of the wifi grill that sits on the visual side of the unibody edge. The main leading edge of the wifi grill sits underneath and out of sight.

The two screws you mention are held in place with nuts and lock tight. You need to hold the nut with a small pair of pillars and use a bit of force to remove the screws. You can dispose of the nuts and the screws will attach directly to the new drive.
