Never thought to enquire on this issue, but decided to know. I have noticed when driving in more rural areas where there is no 5G data, safari, and apps using data just seem to never load when switching to LTE or even 3G, data never loads. Not sure why, I remember when LTE was the fastest, things loaded quickly and download speeds were easily 40 to 60 down if memory serves me. It was fast enough for webpages and YouTube with no real delay. Useless if on anything but 5G. Anyone else notice this?

Current phone an iPhone 13, but noticed it on old iPhone 11 as well. Always using latest updates.

You're probably in an area where the signal is too poor for data. LTE and 3G may show, but that's just a handshake rather than a guarantee of data availability.
