I could create a poll to ask which UK customers are going with, but I don't think I need to.

All the networks are offering 3GB for £10, with Vodafone offering 5GB for £25 and orange offering 10GB for £25. 3, on the other hand, are offering 10GB for £15. I think we know who wins here.

Not only that, but 3 have been known to have great service.

Are any UK iPad owners or potential owners not going with 3?

No, 3 have good coverage, bad customer service.

It was a real ordeal activating my Microsim, but hopefully thats the end of my dealings with the indian call centre for a good long while.

So far 3 coverage and speeds have been very good.

i meant coverage, I just couldn't think of the word :p

O2 have good customer service, but they're just not offering enough data.

3 are clearly serious about having good coverage and speeds, there are billboards everywhere about their network and how amazing it is.

I didnt go with 3 myself because I know at least 2 people who are very dissapointed with both coverage and speed to the exntent that they will be changing providers.

I've got the 3G model but have decided to go sim-less for now, to see how I get on.

I've had an iPhone since last September and have only sent 262MB and received 1.7GB in all that time. Therefore none of the iPad data packages appeal to me.

I'm going to go with three, however not the official iPad offers. Going to get the £35 pay as you go sim, with 12GB preloaded with a 12 month expiry on the 12GB. Can't complain, no need to set up direct debit or deal with customer service, just need to buy it, cut it down to size and put it in.

Thats a great idea, where did you see it for £35, I can only find it in dongle form on their website for £79

Ebay, their are a couple of top rated sellers that stock them, personally went for the a1techstore i think it's called. Came next day basically.

Does this definitely work? How hard is it to cut the sim down? Have three definitely stopped blocking these sims like they were originally?

Just received my sim today, although haven't got the iPad on hand to try right this second, although it should be fine. I haven't heard about the blocking until this thread. All I know is that the sim will not make any phone calls or texts, which isn't a big deal as its going into the iPad directly.

Just needs to be cut down, I recommend trying to get the o2 free micro sim, or something like that, then you can pop out the micro sim, use the rest of the plastic as a template on how to cut the three sim down.

All I did was get a t-mobile pay as you go sim and sign up for the six "unlimited" months for £20 booster and use that.

That's what I've been doing on my iPad since I got it from the US and never had a problem, they impose a fair use policy, but if you only use it for light browsing and getting your email, it's perfectly acceptable :)

Edit - Obviously, I had to cut the sim myself.

I was laughing at the prospect of watching video streams over 3G as I didn't think it would be feasible (choppy distorted pictures etc), but I stand corrected! I enjoyed some beautiful flawless streaming with O2 watching the French Open tennis yesterday. So I'm happy - for the time being!

Oooh I just received an email from O2 saying that I may have had difficulties with my daily 500MB plan (I didn't) but to compensate they are giving me free 1GB data this weekend - how very nice of them! :D

You cut it down pop it in and change the apn settings to three.co.uk (from memory not got ipad to hand) username and password are left blank.

Turn cdn on and away you go. There is a 10-20 second delay when you first turn it on but once that's done your rocking.

I have O2 just now but the coverage where I work is poor - EDGE but no 3G. Vodafone tends to be much better for 3G in my experience so I've ordered a VF sim to try. 3 has poor coverage in my experience and the problem is that it's 3G or nothing. At least with EDGE or GPRS email is still fine.

Yeah works fine

Apn can either be: three.co.Uk or 3internet work fine.

Cutting can be a little awkward, just cut Less than more.

Three are offering 15GB for £15 in a dongle at the moment.

I'm going to save £100 by NOT buying a 3G IPad model, and putting the sim from the deal above in a PAYG MiFi (£50).

I've signed up with 3 for the 1gb plan costing £7.50/month.

Not had chance to use it though yet because i've only been at home/work since i got the iPad.

i went with Orange monthly 15, £15 p/m for 3GB.
so far im happy, but not sure i'll use anywhere that much over a month
