This is probably a really stupid question but I'm asking anyway. It says in my settings data roaming off. Then warns you to turn it off abroad to save data roaming charges. But as I'm not abroad should it be turned on ?

If I turn it on. What diff will it make ?

It will not affect your iPhone in anyway so long as you remain within the United States. If you live anywhere near a border (U.S., Canadian) I would definitely keep it turned off. I would just keep it off generally.

I'm in the uk on o2 unlimited data contract.

Doesn't matter. You can still be roaming if you get in an area where there is no coverage. Again, it's best to leave it off.

Unless you're in northern ireland, finding a network from another country is virtually impossible in the UK :) and impossible if we talk about England alone!
