Hello Mates,

I just looked at my data usage and noticed I have already used 40MB. I'm on the 200MB plan and am only 5 days into my billing cycle. I've never used over 120MB a month and have only been away from wifi 1-2 days so far. All I did on 3G is surf a few web pages. Any ideas about what could be causing the leap in usage?

Thanks,

any app using locations, did you download an app or stream video/music? Those are the big ones

Did you update the OS on your device recently, as this will also use up some data.

IMO, the 200MB plan is a joke. It's basically a required package, but only for people who DON'T use any 3G web or location services. Even the most casual use can easily take you over the 200GB mark. Just pony up the ten bucks for the 2GB.

Not necessarily.....I am on wifi 90% of the time and only use cell data for web surfing, facebook, weather, etc. Last month I had to TRY to make it to 200mb. I do agree that the 200mb plan is NOT for people who are going to be updating and downloading apps on cell data or streamin/downloading video.

umm you can not update your iOS on 3g or wifi it has to be connected to the computer to be able to update it.

But for those people that don't need 200MB (i.e. email-only and casual web-surfers), a $15 required plan is better than the old $30 required plan.

A lot of people seem to have this issue, i did aswell. even when on wifi i still seemed to be leaking out mobile network data, however im on the unlimited plan it didnt really affect me, but to stop this when your at home using wifi, all you have to do is turn mobile data off under settings>network. then turn it back on when u leave the wifi area and need the use of mobile data again

I think 3 days in with my new iPhone 4 I was already at 600mb. JUST 3 DAYS! Thats insane! With my 3G (same amount of use) I was around 300mb - 400mb per month. Now i'm at 2GB approx.

Glad I got 6GB data plan :D
