When using a Navigation app (like MotionX or Google Nav) out of home territory, does it incur Roaming fees?
I would presume it does as all the maps are actively downloading.

If so, wouldn't use of these apps be terribly expensive when travelling?

If you have roaming set to off then your iPhone won't allow any app todownload data unless a wifi connection is active.

So you are agreeing that I would incur Roaming fees then if I use either of these apps?

Wouldn't that alone mean that an app like Navigon, in spite of being more expensive initially, be cheaper in the long run?

Yes that is what I am saying. Any map app that uses server based maps will incur offen massive charges is you swith roaming on. This is the major advantage of navigon, tomtom etc etc the maps are on your phone so roaming is not needed.
