I am more specifically asking people who have already gotten datacase if there are any restrictions on how big a file can be for them to view? Because one of my biggest peeves with filemagnet is that if the file is over 10mb you cannot view it due to lack of memory. If you can view files over 10mb then I might make filemagnet one of those most regretted getting apps. :p
Also, for people who have both, which one do you prefer more? Or are they actually strikingly different and you should keep both of them?

Interesting..

Yeah, I would love to know Pro's / Con's of both FileMagnet and Datacase (seeing its just come out).

Still undecided as to which of the two to buy!! :(

DataCase is PC/Windows compatible whereas Filemagnet is not. That's a fair large plus point for DC.

I transferred over a 12MB mp3 file and it played fine. I also just copied over a 36MB PDF file and it opened. Definitely slowed down with such a large file, but I think that's an iPhone limitation moreso than a DataCase limitation.

I HIGHLY recommend DataCase. It's been great.

Just bought Datacase and impressed with it. I can now load up my .xls files and various documents that I need all the time. Files that have important codes, access informations, users configuration data... all that good stuff, now on my iPhone. Super easy to load files and manage all wirelessly. :)

It doesn't. Which is currently the biggest downside. I'm hoping they add support for iWork soon, because I really need it.

Yeah I don't think there is enough here to warrant switching from filemagnet especially without Iwork support

I just downloaded MobileFinder because I liked the fact that I could edit text files instead of just view them with the other apps. I dont believe Datacase will allow editing, correct?
So far so good with MF, but havent really given it a good test yet either.

If you look at FileMagnet's website (FAQ's) they have so much planned for the future.

At the moment I have a Macbook Pro (Leopard), so cross platform isn't a biggie for me unless I go travelling (but FileMagnet has this planned in future).

My biggest question what does DataCase have (or plans to have) that will beat FileMagnet in the long run.

So does one pay $4 now instead of $9, in the hopes that in a few weeks/months FileMagnet may have a few updates to become just like DataCase, if not better... ?

Other than viewing iWork files, I don't see anything that FileMagnet does or will do that DataCase doesn't right now. And DC will be supporting iWork files (don't know when).

i hope that DC support OpenOffice soon too. My office work uses Open Office only these days and it'll be great if they support that format.

I emailed the DataCase folk about iWork files. They said support for them will either come in the update this weekend or shortly after that. So it's coming soon.

I have used both

I have been using both of them.
Both of them enables wireless file transfer between your iphone and host computer.
- Datacase works for both Mac and PC, while Filemagnet works only for Mac.
- Datacase does not require additional program for file transfer, while Filemagnet requires program installed in host computer.

- You have to create a volume in Datacase (it is like a folder). Although it may sounds inconvenient(actually it is very simple), it allows you to control access permission(writing, browing, and reading) for each volume. In compare to that, Filemagnet does not ask you for access permission after the initial setup with host program in your computer. So, if you just want to move files just from one computer, it would be convenient to use Filemagnet. If you would like to use your iphone as a wireless drive to access from different computer, Datacase is better, I think.

-In my opinion, Filemagnet shows more consideration for mobile users. It hides file extension and shows the icon of the file on the list. And you need at least two touch to open your file in Filemagnet from main menu, while Datacase need at least three touch for that. However, Filemagnet seems to crash when I move around a big pdf file, Datacase is more tolerant for that (It also crash sometimes, but much less frequently than Filemagnet).
