Noticed that David Letterman got his iPhone early, showed it off tonight (not really showed off), in fact seemed intimidated by it, and made a remark about it having too much features then slammed it down on his desk and went on to the next segment of his program. Surprised it was not damaged.

 He slammed it down?

Maybe he hasn't gone through the 4-5 day "acclimation" period.

When you are a millionaire talk show host for many years and you are not tech savvy and in that special circle called "celebrity", you tend to do things like that. That weird old guy that pretends to be celebrities came after the iPhone part and when he was finished walked off and said something about the "$600 for an iPhone?" in a disgruntled tone of voice.

youtube link?

Nope, was on eweek.com when I heard him say "this is the new iPhone", then I immediately turned around to look and saw it in his hand with the main screen displayed. Its very bright in studio light, the buttons were crystal clear too. I am going to try and catch the 11:30 re-run on Denver CBS and tape it with my digital camera.

Heh, ironically they are showing the iPhone ad at the moment. Apple seems to love CBS, it was the first station I saw the ad on at 6 pm during 60 minutes.

Its a fake

Ok, watched Letterman from the start, he took it out, showed it to the audience (at his desk). Said he has an "advanced copy" of the "iPod phone". The audience went ooooooh, when the cameraman did a close up, it turned out to be a fake.

I guess being very rich does not get you everything. But, the audience going oooh was priceless. He then went on to make fun of it and said Apple will be coming out with a new version 6 months later for $1,100, then showed a puny iphone replica and said you can use it as a breath mint, put it in his mouth and spit it out.

It was a main topic for Steven Colbert last night to, he is hilarious, I imagine he will have one to show off on monday when his show comes back on.

David Letterman is a comedian, after all. It's his job to make fun of things and use dummy props. So I'm not surprised at all that it's fake.

I especially liked the iPhone nano/breath mint bit :D. I was a bit dumbfounded though when he referred to Apple as "iPod", as in, "iPod is releasing its new iPhone in a few days..."
