Dawn of War on parallels?

My friends just recently got into Dawn of War on their PCs leaving me in the dust. I tried to install it on parellels (mind you I have a year old Pro) but it said I have to update my splooge (spooge maybe? I dunno) drive. I looked all over for an update for the video card but couldn't find one.

Does anyone know how to get this to work on a Macbook Pro in parallels?

Just a tip, pretty much nothing runs in Parallels. I can barely play Counter Strike. This is why I have Parallels boot from my Boot Camp drive. I can use both with only one XP install ;). Still need to register XP. I always get network errors. Only 13 days left :eek:.
 
Dawn of War (at least the first 3 versions) works pretty well in Crossover Games. It also works fairly well with the Cider hack if you wanna try it that way.

I don't have the new version of the game to know if it works.
 
Crossover is a commercial product version of Wine that you can purchase. http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/

Cider is another version of Wine used for some ports of games to the Mac, such as the Spore Creature Creator. The Cider engine can be hacked to play other games, as long as the game has a chance of working in Wine, anyway. How to do so is more complicated than I can go into here. Search these forums or google for Cider hacking to find out how.

Bootcamp is certainly going to work well for Dawn of War because that's just booting windows. Crossover and Cider just give you ways to play it from OSX.
 
Thanks a lot guys. I think I'll give bootcamp a try first. I'm slightly worried having bootcamp and the ability to play PC games will lure me away from my studies tho! haha
 
I gotta admit, I ciderized my copies of Dawn of War (and the latest expansion) and they run at full res top speed directly on OS X without Windows. Was really happy with the results, although the sound has a stutter that I haven't found a fix for yet

I hate Crossover.... It doesn't work with everything. And not what I want it to work with either.

Which Cider did you use? Just curious.
