Hi all,

I have just got my MacBook Pro 14 device and all I can say is WOW.

I want to add a bit more protection, as anyone put an Dbrand or Toastmade skin on yet? if so could you post some photos please.

Cheers

I put a Dbrand skin on my ThinkPad X1 Carbon, and it was amazing - perfect fit, and gave a heck of a lot of surface protection. Worth the price.

I sold my ThinkPad but I might have some photos somewhere. I appreciate this is not a MBP, but I do recommend Dbrand highly if you are looking for a skin.

I recommend dbrand also, as I use them on all of my iPP.

I did notice that skins for the new MacBooks are up for pre order now.

Kind of sad to note that the Swarm skin seems to have been retired, but Black Matrix is a favorite.

I was disappointed to see that they don’t cover the entire MacBook; the sides are missing. Am I missing something ?

No, Dbrand are edge-to-edge, to and bottom only. I guess covering the edges would be difficult, as unless you did it with microscopic precision, you'd be left with trailing edges of the vinyl that would catch, and it would be impossible with wedge-shaped machines like the MBA.

I found it was fine with my ThinkPad, although that was a VERY thin laptop, and also wedge-shaped like the MBA.

I'm still on the fence as I also want some protection for my MBP14, but in space gray, I also want a colour combo which looks good. I was thinking of the grey CF on the top only this time (previously have ordered black camo and black CF on other devices). The bottom I think is fine as is (and I actually stare at it a lot since I use a vertical stand with the bottom facing me), and I don't like the palmist being only covered half way due to speaker grilles. I saw some people with the black trackpad covers to match the keyboard and that's tempting but I'm still reading reviews which seem mixed on whether it'll change the sensitivity of the trackpad when I love the original Apple trackpad texture so much!

I've got a DBrand skin on my trackpad, Hyperblack Titanium and while it doesn't alter the sensitivity in any way I can notice it alters the feel dramatically. It's a much rougher surface which I don't mind but I can see a lot of people hating. It's only $4 for the trackpad cover anyway so I'd say order it with the other skins & just take it off again if you don't like it.

Has anyone here got the limited edition "real leather" skins from DBrand? The website doesn't seem to offer the usual options to see how it looks on space gray (vs silver), and at $69 just for the top (i.e. not bottom/trackpad/etc) it seems like an expensive experiment to buy into it even if I think real leather would be epic.

I was originally leaning towards the black real leather but then saw the brown also looks nice... but it's hard to visualise if it would look good or rubbish on my space gray MBP 14".

I just purchased a Space Gray skin from Amazon.de, and applied it. It looks excellent because the color matches perfectly. It is like nothing is applied on the device. Photos are below, please check to evaluate it yourself.

It has trackpad, palm rest, upper case, lower case covers. All are in space gray color.

The only thing I noticed is the sticker, where is being put close to the lid, is a bit shorter. I tried to resolve it, but no chance, I just left it as it is. It does not bother me too much, as I pay attention to the protection more.

I just got the swarm for my 14" --- seems it's back in stock.
