hey macsters. i just stumbled upon an interesting thought. i am going to buy a 1gb stick of memory for my new 17" powerbook that i ordered yesterday. after i install it, i am going to take the original 512 out of the 17" and stick it in my 12" 1.5 pb to give it 768mb ram.

question is...will this work? will the 512 ddr2 from the 17" work in the 12"? i don't want to fry anything...

thanks!

No, I don't think it will even fit.

EDIT: V Thanks, I wasn't sure about the pin counts.

DDR2 SODIMM memory may look like it will fit in a DDR SODIMM memory slot, but they are not compatible. Enjoy the 1.5GB in your new Powerbook.

(For reference regular DIMMs are 240 pins for DDR2 and 184 pins for DDR. SODIMMs of either type are apparently 200 pins)
