Dead iPhone:(

My iPhone has died, It won't even boot, it won't reset nothing, just stuck with the white Apple logo, spoke with apple support, and I have to drive to my nearest Apple-store and get them to look at it, and then maybe wait for several days whilst they fix it, pissed I am hoping they will exchange for a new one, I don't want to have to wait without a phone, I have business to do.

Apple does not "Fix" phones in the store, they will try software things, but usually just replace it.

Does the computer detect it?

Pop out the SIM and pick up an at&t GoPhone and use it in the interim.

It's rare they just break like that. They either break as soon as you get them, or the user bricks it trying to jailbreak it.

It won't connect to the computer and it isn't nor ever has been jail broken, so I am surprised and a little disappointed, I didn't do anything strange to it, no drops or anything, I installed the latest firmware and after that it seemed to be a little finicky connecting to itunes, I had to try several times, then today I deleted an app I no longer wanted on there, I then restarted the phone, from then on no third party app would start, so after talking to apple support I did a reset on the phone, the Apple logo reappeared and there it stayed, it won't reboot, connect to iTunes, and even if I hold the on/off button and the home button and do a reset again the same result, the Apple Logo is as far as it will go, Apple care couldn't figure it out either, so something is definitely messed up.

I'm having exactly the same problem.

Everything was fine for me until I installed 2.0.2 firmware, now I can't get my phone to work properly.

After I installed 2.0.2 my apps wouldn't get past the splash screen so I removed one of them and reinstalled it, still wouldn't work so I removed it again and rebooted the iPhone. on reboot it would not pass the Apple logo and just wouldn't do anything, it could not be seen in iTunes but strangely it the pictures do come up in iPhoto. Eventually I did a factory restore on the iPhone, tis wiped everything and I thought I would be ok now, restored from a backup and still no apps working! Factory restore again and this time I did not restore from a backup but I did install the apps, the iPhone worked all day today until an app crashed, now I'm back to square one again, no apps working and after deleting an app, rebooting the iPhone will not get pass the Apple logo again!

I am so frustrated, I had the original iPhone and had none of these problems, the iPhone 3G has been a lot more buggy and definately more troublesome but nothing like this until I installed 2.0.2!

The really bad bit about this is that as the iPhone wont even boot I cannot even use the basic phone functions. With no time to go to an Apple Store to get them to look at it I am left with a useless piece of junk atm!

Im not sure how you both could have missed this...but the problems you describe in this thread are actually very common and wide-spread....you might want to check out these two threads in particular...exact same issues. Prepare for some heavy reading, I think there are close to 500 posts between these two threads....and I could easily find you a bunch more, but these two seem to be the best/biggest which include some (apparently) temporary fixes.

I'd say bring it in the apple store for a replacement. I mean, it's not your fault. I wouldn't waste my time troubleshooting a problem that could be easier fixed with a replacement.
