Dead Island is on sale this week-end for $5.

I know when it first came out for the Mac a lot of reviews said it was buggy.

But, it's been a few months and I wonder if anyone knows if those bugs have been fixed.

Thanks,

Chris

HAH! Nope, it's still very very buggy. I just finished playing it 15 minutes ago, and the only thing they fixed was the crash to desktop issue that horribly plagued the game.

It's far more playable now though.

I'm on Mavericks and my friend is on Windows 7 and we completed the entire first chapter together online on Steam with no problems. In fact I was surprised at how well the game ran for both of us. But we have been unable to progress any further together because the game crashes on my friends computer at the beginning of chapter 2 whenever he leaves the church grounds.

He's tried it on three different computers and the game crashes at the same place every time. We've tried different characters too.
I'm guessing it's some incompatibility between the Mac and Windows game netcode. I haven't tried playing online with anyone else but I would hope that playing with another Mac user would work.

I have a mid-2011 27 inch iMac with ATI Radeon 6970m and I wouldn't recommend using a Mac with a GPU less that that for this game.

Still buggy in the sense that it's still poorly-optimized. Framerates after going from silky smooth ports like Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2, and Arkham City, are just painful for me.

I can't play it.

Glad I saw this thread, because I was considering buying it for Mac to play again. I played it on Xbox 360 with some friends and we had a blast. However, it was really, really buggy on 360.

That's a real shame. I guess I will pass on it. :(

yeah the game runs terrible on my late 2012 27" iMac, can't believe the difference of the min specs for the windows & mac version, crap port & can't be compared to any Feral or Aspyr game period. Game is worth 2$ in my opinion.

Unless they issue a patch that fixes it.

Virtual Programming aren't good at porting games, and their support is (at least was) non-existent.

It's on sale again for $5.

Have there been any patches - is it any more stable?

Is this on Steam? You might try posting the same question in the game's forum too in case you can get some recent feedback there. There may also be a sticky with patch info.
