Good day folks.
So just like everyone else, I left my iPad to charge overnight. Woke up the next day, the device greeted me with the dead battery screen. Definitely weird. Went ahead and left it charging for another 1-2 hours, no luck. A soft reset did not kick it back to live either, and now my iPad is completely dead. A total black screen. No response whatsoever.
Called Apple, made an appointment and went down to one of my local Apple repair centre. Representative did an ICC, can't get it to work either. Told me that my logic board is most probably dead.
Folks, please advise. I bought the device back in Dec 2018. 90% on my time on it was using GoodNotes. 10% leisure. When I asked the representative how could something like this happened within a span of less than 2 years happened with hardcore usage, she simply told me "it happens from time-to-time". I have no AppleCare, so a replacement unit will run me $800 in my local currency. Is there anyway I can talk Apple into replacing it for free? Paying $800 for most likely a refurbished unit doesn't economically make any sense, when I can top another few hundred to get the 4th gen model.
Some other facts about my iPad:
1. I was using the default 18W charger up till Dec last year when I got my MBP 16 inch, and switched to charging it with the 96W charger. Not sure if this was the root cause (although I highly doubt).
2. No water damage, just usual wear and tear.
Thanks everyone.
