my brother has a black mb and recently his battery stopped working. it won't charge and in the battery pull-down menu it has an icon with a battery with and "X" on it. he did get the battery update (1.2 i think) but did not wait 24 hours after the release of the update. i'm aware of the 15-inch macbook battery recall from :apple: but it says
for certain rechargeable batteries that were sold for use with 15-inch MacBook Pro computer systems from February 2006 through May 2006.
but my brother;s mb is from october-november 2006.
But then again, the recall page says
The affected batteries have model number A1175 and a 12-digit serial number that ends with U7SA, U7SB or U7SC.
so that might be my brother's battery. (i'll check when he get's home)
So, if you have a simailar problem or advice please tell!
Thanks in advance!

If your battery doesn't work (or in this case, your brothers), it will be replaced under warranty regardless of whether or not its serial no. is included in a battery recall.

ok, thanks! i'll tell him that.:D

Happened to me, just return it.

They may just replace the battery or offer to have your macbook tested as well. I got mine tested, I recommend you do too if you can live without it for a few days.

Similar thing happened to me, I went to the Apple store and they replaced the battery for free.

(Got AppleCare after that though just in case.)
