Well i got my new imac a week ago and noticed a dead pixel in the screen, At first i was hopeful it was only stuck but after a week of trying to un-stick it and using my system in the hopes it would repair itself as they sometimes do its still there.

I dont have any yellow tint issues with my screen just this one dead pixel.
Should i take it back to apple and risk more issues?
Or just wait a while longer and see if it repairs itself.

im a music producer so im not going to be doing things like photoshop or video editing.

I also have one. Not sure what exactly to do about it.

and you could get one with 5 dead pixels after returning the "one dead pixel iMac " think of it as giving your iMac some character /personality/uniqueness ;)

I kinda hope the odds are in favor of getting one without a dead pixel. I won't mind returning it again after the first return.

But you just might get a display with a yellow tint. I think I'd prefer 1 dead pixel over a yellow tinted display...but that's probably because that is what I have!

And then it will go back again. Once I get started with it, I'm pretty sure I can get used to it. =p

Take it back. I have never had a problem with any Apple products (my mother had the overheat issue with her G5 iMac, it was replaced, and she is still using it with no problems). I am not OCD, but dead pixels are a thing of the past.

Yellow tint, isn't that a glue drying issue or an issue with people sitting too close to the 27 inch monitors that it affects the color because of the angle they view the bottom of the screen?

The pixel is annoying but I don't see it unless the screen is black. If I change the desktop background to something other than black, I never see it. Also during regular use I never see it.

Might not be worth taking back to the store. However, I do have the yellow tint but I'm going to wait and see if that clears itself.

So what has everyone decided to do?
I'm going to keep my iMac for now. I never see the dead pixel and the yellow issue is not really much of a problem either. I have to wonder about the yellow thing though. As I said in another thread, if I move my eyes down so they are parallel with the bottom of the screen, the yellow is not there. Kinda weird.

This was posted online a while ago. Under this policy your iMac wouldn't qualify for replacement with just 1 dead pixel.

Within 14 days of your online purchase you can ask for a replacement. And that is what I ended up doing. The dead pixel wasn't too bad but I hate knowing it is there and I want the screen to be without such errors.

I tried to compromise with Apple to find another way to fix it but nope, they seemed to be keen on just getting me a replacement. I suppose that's a good thing.

Now, let's hope the replacement will not have any issues.

Its been 14 days and i have opted to keep my imac with the single pixel after finding it is "stuck" not "dead" im hopping with more frequent use it will eventually right itself. the machine itself is perfect.

However i have purchased the extended warranty on it and if the problem continues for more than 2 months i will be contacting apple directly as im moving to uni soon and can't afford to repair or replace anything when i get there.

But they won't do anything for just one pixel right?
