Hi there I have just got my PB back from repair as the screen was loose, so they replaced the entire screen and now it has a dead pixel which is really annoying. So what should i do should I go back and discuss it with them or not.

Thank You

There's no harm in discussing it. If it was a new machine, they'd probably tell you that a single dead pixel falls within their specs. since its a repair, you might be able to convince them that you expected it back in the same condition it was in before, ie no dead pixels.

At any rate, it certainly doesn't hurt to talk to them. the worst that happens is they say they won't do anything about it.

Be polite with constant eye contact, and explain exactly what happened.

You sent the system back for a loose connection, had the screen replaced, and the new screen has a dead pixel. Say you are not satisfied, and that you would like a complete resolution, with good parts.

Good luck, :)

Then use iChat AV ;)

Well, I misunderstood that you were making an appointment at the genius bar, and could make eye contact at the appointment.

I guess just be polite, stern, and tell the truth.

Good Luck!

Unfortunately one dead pixel is a common occurrence. You were just unfortunate enough to notice it. I don't think they will replace the entire screen for you over this, even though it was pristene when you brought it in. I know that most manufacturers will not take back LCD displays unless there are a substantial number of dead pixels. (i.e. 8 or more). Sorry. If you look hard enough on just about any LCD display, you should be able to spot at least one dead pixel. They come noticable when you run high contrast colors and do color tests. Otherwise to the untrained eye they often go un-noticed.

I cant believe it, the apple care guy actually said this stupid mac (referring to his) whilst i was talking to him. Is there a program which could try to remove it, I remember I used one for my PSP some time back. Also the upper case of the PB is now more warped than when I brought it in!!!

That sucks. You should definitely complain and insist that they correct the problem. If you received your powerbook after a repair, and now it has another set of issues, well...that's just unacceptable. Hopefully Apple will do the right thing in your situation.

Apparently the law on dead pixels is companies will only repair or replace if there are 15 or more pixels deceased. I think its appalling personally as it was fine before they fixed it. I would complain to everyone you can. If you kick up a huge fuss someone is bound to help eventually.
