I have had my iMac a few months and have just noticed this pixel in the top right corner that's always red. Is this what a 'dead pixel' is? If so, how does it occur, what does it mean and how, if at all, can it be fixed?

Thanks :)

Try this hint. Never done it myself, but macosxhints is pretty reliable. :)

It wouldn't be a "dead" pixel because a dead pixel doesn't work at all. Like katie ta achoo said, it's probably just stuck.

This widget keeps repeating itself so you could let it run all night if necessary.

Plus, along with Red, Green, and Blue, it cycles through black.

Thanks guys, I'll try out your advice as soon as I get home and let you all know the results.

Cheers :)

Ok, I downloaded the widget and have left it running for the last hour on the problem pixel but it doesn't seem to have fixed it.

Hey ho, looks like I might just have to put up with it.

Thanks for all your help anyway :)

I wouldn't give up hope just yet. I would try running it longer.
