I just got my new 3.06 1tb brand new imac yesterday, I have a dead pixel almost smack dead in the middle of the screen. Can I bring this back to the apple store today?

Im really bummed about this....I was getting pretty sick of hearing the screen talk till it hit home. I dont know how common dead pixels are, I not sure if I had a gradient issue...I mean I dont notice anything else, so really Im not worried about it....

But for 2500, this is far from acceptable.

Steps you should take:

1. Try cycling your screen to try and persuade your pixel.
2. Find other dead pixels; if you find more than 3, you can trade it in for a new imac :D.
3. Break your screen and say it came like that.

How do you cycle the screen???? the store manager is saying they will be sending a new one tomorrow overnight. But i got to call applecare in the morning....I dont see how they can say i need 3 bad ones, i expect something a little more for 2500.

This is the second time in a day I'm writing about this.

You are still within the 14-day purchase period. So you can return the mac for an exchange no question asked.

I don't think you need to call Applecare, just the store manager is suffice? Or did the manager instruct you to call Applecare?

Either way they will have to replace the imac for you. Tell them the pixel in the center is bloody distracting.

I've had dead pixels in the past and they were in the middle as well. 1 time the manager at apple allowed me to get an exchange without a restocking fee another time they denied me.. so if they say no to an exchange.. then the only solution is to live with the dead/stuck pixel.

I'm sure if its in the middle of the screen they will allow you to get an exchange. Apple's dead/stuck pixel policy is 4-7 I believe but usually the managers will take care of you.

I didnt buy in store

OK...Called in, barely any wait time. .mac account free for a year, and they are sending me a new computer...Far better tech support than I ever received didn't even need to ask for someone within 3 timezones....

they dont carry the 3.06 with the 1tb hd in the store so I have to go thru apple care. The manager says that he updated notes with advice to exchange it.

I havent loaded any software or copied data over to this...So that isnt a big deal. Problem is, is the screen trust worthy.....I mean where am I down the road in a year if this happens?
