Just got my imac last friday and have to say it is a steep learning curve. There appears to be lots of comments about dead pixels. What is the best way to check for this? Sorry if this sounds stupid but I am curious...

Thanks in anticipation:confused:

The simple answer is this - if you don't notice any during day-to-day use of your Mac then you don't have any.

I have one pixel stuck on red, but I can hardly see it (especially not with a few specks of dust on the screen). It's not a problem for me at all.

Lift up the iMac's skirt and take a look. ;)

Seriously, if you don't see anything wrong in day to day use, same as Nick said, it's most likely not an issue. Don't be a pixel peeper. :D

Agreed, Pixel Check is the best! To the OP: it's not a steep learning curve on a Macintosh. I'm gonna go out on a whim and guess you just switched from using Windows? If so then that's the problem, many people are so Windows centric that they only know one way and to try something new and better "SEEMS" like a high learning curve. Let us know if you need help.;)

dust or dead pixel?

I realise that if i don't clean my imac's screen very often some pieces of dust go behind the glass and seems like dead pixel.I realise one today when i was cleaning my screen. Is this possible? How can i remove this?

Thank you

Take off the glass, make sure dust doesnt go back in while you take the dust out.:p

dont bother checking, if you cant see any normally "Life is great", however if the pixel check finds one or two it will annoy u and in future you will start to look for it.

I suggest you only run it if your going to sell, and the buyer asks.
