Here is a picture I took of my desk: link

As you can see, toward the lower-right there's a black dot. It is not my desk. Those apparently are dead pixels on my iPhone's CCD.

I bought the iPhone second hand and have been using it unlocked/jailbroken. It's still under warranty though, so obviously I would like to have this fixed. But if I restore to factory and put an AT&T sim card back in, as far as I know there's no way to access the camera until the iPhone is activated. What are my options?

It's a piece of dust/dirt in the camera. Your only option is to restore it and go to Apple or do it yourself.

Is there a way for Apple techs to check the camera display or take a photo when the iPhone hasn't been activated yet?

Anyone know? If not we can just let this thread die and I'll just have to find out for myself.
