I rarely use my laptop on the go but today I headed to my mom's house and decide to bring my laptop with me. I packed it in my sleeve and bag and went on my way. When I take it out and turn it on I notice what I thought was a series of dead pixels. However, upon further investigation I realize that its a piece of hair.

I tried to nudge the screen a little and it moves but not much. Anyone have this problem before? If I take this to the Apple Store could they do something about this for me? My MBP is only 5 months old.

You said that the hair moved slightly when you rubbed it right? Try getting a soft cloth, like a terry cloth (I hope that's spelled right) and brush it against the hair. If the fibers of the cloth can't grasp the hair, then there's a fair chance that it's inside, and for that, you'll have to head to an Apple Store.

No, it moved when I nudged the screen (e.g. when I tap the sides or top of the screen). I have one of those microfiber keyboard\screen protectors that doubles as a screen cleaner. I've tried many times to rub the hair with that with no luck. It's definitely in the screen. Ugh.

Is this something that Apple covers under warranty? I mean it's not like I'm doing anything out of the ordinary with my MBP. In fact, quite the opposite. I take extra care of my MBP (like many other MBP owners) so I'm a little upset about this.

They have to. It's like a catch 22 on Apple's part. If they say it's your fault for letting a hair in, they by default admit that their displays have fairly large gaps. If they say that it isn't your fault, then they will remove it for you. Either way, if it's under warranty, Apple will remove the hair.

I really hope so. I wonder if its something they can do in the store. I mean, I get the impression that some of the flagship stores can perform more difficult repair tasks in the actual store. I know the NYC 5th Ave store has employees (in green shirts) that work in the back separate from the Geniuses and they seem to do technical tasks. I wonder if they can handle something that seems fairly simple right there in the store without the need for me to send it in. I really hope so.

Any body have anything similar? If so, how was the process with Apple?
