Hi guys

so i've had my 11" mba since it first came out, and i love the laptop to death. I keep it in immaculate condition, and over the last maybe 2 weeks or so i noticed a dark spot on my screen. At first i thought it was a bubble under my screen protector, or part of my wallpaper so i ignored it.

Today, when i turned on my mba, i saw a whole bunch of funky colors, so i downloaded a dead pixel checking program...

under red, blue, green and white screens, it appears as a dark spot... but under black, well, it looks pretty bad

is this covered under warranty? if i get this repaired under warranty, does that mean my 1 year warranty is done and im no longer covered, or can i get as many repairs done as needed during that one year period?

Apple's unofficial policy on a 13" screen is about 3-5 dead pixels, if an earlier MacRumors article is correct. That looks like quite a bit more than 3-5 pixels. I suggest taking it back.

i couldn't catch the coloring correctly since i was taking the pic w an ip4, but yeah it did start out as a dark spot (which i thought was uneven lighting) which i ignored, until i could see a flickering red dot, amongst other various colors surrounding that dot today... i think it escalated to a bunch of dead pixels in that little corner

the mba was my first mac osx product that i've ever owned, and im new to the whole mac scene...

lets just say the apple store treated me very well, didn't think i was OCD or anything with the dead pixels, once i showed it to the staff he immediately checked for stock and ordered the parts for my replacement.

i guess thats one of the positives of buying apple products at a "premium", u get great service and warranty coverage with it

That is Apple's pixel policy according to a leaked document. That means you need at least 6 dead pixels before it is covered by AppleCare. It is worth it to give it a try but it is completely normal for LCDs to have dead or stuck pixels.

it's covered, they have the part ordered and it will arrive in 3-5 bus days, and they will install it for me as well.

thanks

I would definitely try to get it replaced via the Genius Bar at Apple.

To make a long story short, I had my tv remote hit my MBA 13" Ultimate screen yesterday. Instantly trashed the display. Made a Genius Bar appointment for last night night.

APPLE ROCKS! After telling me this type of problem isn't covered by warranty, that it would cost between $450 (in-house repair) and $750 (if they had to send it out), they waived the charges as a courtesy.

Will try to post the photo of the display, but it was shot and clearly damaged by something hitting in.

Great customer service.
