Hello All,

I believe my MacPro2,1 from 2007 has a dead PSU, but I'm trying to confirm this before I try to get a new (or used) replacement. When I try to power it on, fans come on, but the PWR_ON Diagnostic LED never comes on. However the "trickle" indicator does. It seems like the video card never gets power or puts out a signal.

I've tried booting with one pair of RAMs, and all the other hardware removed, with the same result. The power supply makes an odd popping sound when the power button is pushed. Sounds like a blown PSU? Also curious if people have gotten these repaired/exchanged, or maybe changed a fuse themselves.

thanks in advance for your helpful replies!

EDIT: I've also used the video card from the Mac Pro in my PC and it seems to work ok booting into windows. Not sure if this eliminates video issues with the Mac, but it seems like if it works fine under windows, it would at least be able to turn grey on bootup?
