Hey all,

Wondering if anyone could tell me if I will have issues playing dead space 2023 on my mac pro. My system meets all the system requirments except for the processors. The minimum is a Ryzen 5 2600x, Core i5 8600. I have Dual X5690's. I just dont want to buy it and not be able to play like Age of Empires IV.

So, the game requires processors from 2018 - I bet that it probably require a CPU that have support for AVX2 or BMI2 instructions - while your Xeon is from 2010 (Westmere) and without any form of AVX or BMI support.

I wouldn't buy it without anyone confirming that it works.

Yeah, it will probably work the same way Cyberpunk 2077 and Wolfenstein New Order did -- I had to hack both games in order to get rid of the TPM requirements, but was absolutely able to play both from beginning to end on my 5,1 (before I upgraded to my current 7,1).

If you do a google search you can see what kind of 'hack' is required to do that.

I would wait and see if people are able to bypass the AVX2 or TPM requirements first -- and if they are, then it will probably work.

Heads up that I HAVE successfully ran a LOT of newer games that were "supposed" to NOT work on the 5,1, but because I had my RX-6800XT in it, they actually ran quite well. Elden Ring for example, I was getting ~63fps on full 4K with pretty high settings.

Just wanted to post an update. Dead Space 2023 works on my Mac Pro!! Runs with medium graphics just fine. High/Ultra settings run but the FPS dips too low under heavy load.

Mac Pro Specs
5,1 2x Intel Xeon 5690
Vega 56 8GB
40GB 1333RAM
1TB SATA II SSD

Awesome!

Get an RX-6800XT in there and have some real fun! 😝
