Price was incorrect!

I just called.

My order didn't go through, and I ordered it at about 8pm pacific. I guess some of you got lucky. :(

EDIT: But its still listed at $45. WTF?

that sucks. it does also still says that it's in stock and will ship the same day. weird.

My stick was waiting for me when I got home, installed it - had a little trouble with my airport card getting it to actually go online (or could have been my router) but the RAM works now and no problems to report as of yet, and I do see a slight speed boost :).

Very happy with it :).

So, I called macmall about the status being back-ordered, and they said that they were currently unpacking an incoming shipment and that my order should still go out today.

I'll believe it when I see it...

Well, I just hope they don't contact those of us who ordered and say "Oops, we made a mistake, that memory is supposed to be $150...pay or ship it back"

They can't legally do that, can they?

They can say that it was a pricing "typo" and that they are not responsible for it (just like the retail weekly advertisements in the paper). But, they would contact you and say that there was an error and what their business will do to correct it (that's dependent on the business).

However, they CAN'T just charge your card for $150 instead of the $45. If they did, I'd have AMEX all over their a$$ :)

Also, they couldn't change anything that had already cleared payment and/or shipped. Which is why I waited to hear that they were really honoring the price before I bought.

As long as they can't force me to return or pay them the difference, I'm happy.

Although if this really is an error, I have a feeling someone's getting fired ;)

ive had this ram for a half year now, never had any problems with it

I am on the phone with them right now and they're saying that there is no ETA when it will ship or that it will ship. They do not have them in stock apparently. Also he said the other reason why it may not ship is because the price looks wrong. I said, "I see where this is going and I'll tell you that you'll have a pack of angry customers because we have knowledge that not only did you have this price online, but you shipped orders out to people that were already received and put into their notebooks...so yeah, you'll be shipping the rest I'm sure." He said I have to call back tomorrow to talk to a manager.

If it's a wrong price, it sure has been on there long enough. You think something would have gone off in their heads when they saw more people than usual ordering this particular product. Their loss....and as I said, someone will be in the unemployment line shortly :D

Not really their loss if they opt not to ship. What is the status of yours? I told them what you said about there being a box there and they said that wasn't true. Of course I tend to believe you, a total stranger more than I'd believe a retailer that is getting their asses handed to them on a platter of $50 ram. :)

arg mine is on backorder!!! im going to be really mad if some people got the ram and others like myself get ripped off and dont get it :-/

it is still showing up on their web site and it says ships same day! i really hope i get the ram!

I just checked the site and the main page says it's still $45 but when you click to go to the detailed description it says it's $125.99.

Still backorderd. I would guess that it is not a case of "it shipped, but website hasn't been updated".
Damn.

Edit:

Main product page now says $125 and ship time is "Call"

As a side note for those looking for cheap ram, newegg has a 1GB PC2700 of Patriot ram for $86 with ~$5 shipping. The reviews give it 9:1 in favor of working with Mac's.

Also check out dealram.com

...it was fun while it lasted

I just spoke to Mac Mall again and the guy was much nicer than the dumbass I spoke to yesterday. He said that they just got a shipment of 18 sticks in today. He said that he doesn't know where I am on the list, but there are 79 people waiting and 20 people who ordered today so he said my chances of getting it from that shipment are unknown, but it WILL ship and AT that price. He laughed at the price and I referred him to here. I told him that about 100 of us probably ordered in a 10 hour time frame. He said he didn't blame us.

So I am confident that I will get it, but I just do not know when. :( Oh how I long for my new cheap ram.

Hesitated...

Damn, back to its regular price! I was going to order it, as well, but I hesitated for the reason that I've heard Kingston memory sometimes did not 'get along' with the powerbook.

Let us know if you see a deal again! Though I doubt it will be anything as cheap.

Always buy now...think later...you can almost always return.

Thanks Moviecutter.

It came today and i installed on my ibook and it works, though, i couldn't tell any difference in speed etc.
