At $299 off, this is a match of the previous record low price that we tracked on this iMac, and only Amazon has the sale. Delivery dates are provided for around May 18 - 22 for most residences in the United States.

For a higher-end iMac, the 8-Core GPU, 512GB M1 iMac is on sale for $1,399.99 on Amazon, down from $1,699.00. This is another all-time low price, and it's only available in Pink.

What it really should have been from the start. But this is 2 year old almost 3 year old tech at this point. M3 is not far off, so I would hold out for more performance. But if its gonna be for basic stuff, web browsing, Macrumors, YouTube, ok.
We all know the problem isn’t long term performance, the problem will appear 4-5 years from now when Apple artificially EOL’s it “because it’s a 7-8 year old machine”. 😉

If we do indeed see an M3 iMac this year all the naysayers will look silly.

Still, given the performance of M1 I was seriously tempted, but I’m just not comfortable with only 16GB RAM even though it would probably be fine.

I don't know, these Apple Silicon Macs look like they are gonna be around for a very long time. I'm sure there will be hacks to even get future macOS releases that will drop official support working on these devices.

Windows 11 artificially EOL'd a lot of computers that could run it. We have a Lenovo P50 with 32 GB of RAM and a Xeon processor that was blocked from Windows 11 because it lacked a TPM chip. It was only 5 years old when Windows 11 was released.

I have a 2013 iMac, this is definitely tempting. But im not sure there is a point as my iMac now is primarily for browsing the web, and it’s fine for that.

Expect the M2 version announcement via press release soon. No M3 this year.

I'd love to recommend the iMac to my family and friends but the storage options are just too small. An iPhone has the same amount of storage.
Apple still thinks people aren’t buying it because of iPhones or iPads 😂
