Deals on iMacs

I'm just wondering what kind of deals some of you picked up your iMacs for.

I'm pretty proud of the deal I got on mine. Here's how I did it, and it's a bit ironic really...thanks MS.

First I used the Microsoft Live.com cashback promo and purchased two $500 Bestbuy gift cards with the 30% rebate. It worked out to cost me $770 for $1000 credit to best buy. Then I waited until Bestbuy had the iMac with a $100 instant rebate.

So when all was said and done, I got my brand new iMac that normally sells for $1199. I paid $869. This was for an A-stock non refurb straight out the door of my local Bestbuy.

I also ended up purchasing an applecare program with the same MS discount for exactly $69.

I'm very happy with the purchase and so glad I didn't wait for Macworld.

well, generally, i stay away from brick and mortar stores who charge something like 8% tax or so (unless you're in Oregon).

And with best buy, you have to settle for the stock configuration.
I wanted the top of the line graphics card, but i didn't want to pay for the top of the line CPU.
I wanted the larger hard drive (since it isn't user replaceable), but i didn't want to pay for extra RAM (I paid $30 after rebate for 4gb of Crucial memory)

I ended up getting mine from ebay (using the 30% live.com discount) since there was a seller who had custom configs.

Since mine was roughly $2000 retail, I saved about $160 right off the bat with no tax. and it was configured EXACTLY the way I wanted. no compromises.

since i saved so much, i'll sell mine as soon as the new quad cores come out and i'll only lose maybe $150 or so, which is not bad, if you consider it as "renting" a mac for a year or so

Luckily I am in Oregon. I was cool with the factory config. I threw in 4gb ram for another $50. So with the iMac, 4gb ram and applecare, I'm still sitting under $1k!

I love the machine so far and the price makes me smile.

My deal isnt as impressive, but I drove down to delaware to avoid tax, and used my student discount... I got the 2.8ghz 24" with a $130 printer, and apple care for $1,940... Then I sold the printer for $125 and got a $100 rebate, so total cost was $1,715 for an iMac that usually costs $1,799 without apple care
