I always believe that charging overnight, constant full charge or fast charging degrade the battery. Thus, I avoid them if possible.

What’s your take on overnight charge?

So, basically nothing is really debunked or anything of the sort. Simply some discussion of essentially the most optimal way to charge, which isn't the really most practical for most vs. a less optimal, but more quite a bit more practical way of going about it. No real discussion--aside from just a mention of a generalized and at least somewhat, if not quite a bit, exaggerated conjecture--of how much of a meaningful difference it all would really make.

More or less what many (at least around these parts) already know that if you keep your battery let's say in the 80% - 40% range (and even that is a somewhat looser range than the most optimal one) as often as possible it would be better than fully charging and especially fully discharging, or getting somewhere close to it. But again, it's down to how much of a meaningful difference that would actually play over time in most circumstances vs. how realistically practical it is to consistently think about it and follow it all essentially all the time.

I will continue as before: Youtube does not have a perfect record of providing factual technical information.
And, this is mostly BS, presented in a colorful way, of course.

Guy plays into a myth, with more mythical BS.
I saw it on the internet, so it must be true.

Let’s start removing the battery out of the phone every time we are not using it.

Linus makes fun videos, but not smart or half educational. I’ll take an advice from a potato before I take advice from Linus.

As far as charging, I’m optimal when I can and practical when I have to be. If I have to charge overnight, do be it. I don’t sweat it that some capacity may be lost.

Charging at any time but overnight is impractical therefore I don’t even care about the consequences. Apple has some guidelines about batteries as well, don’t recall anything about overnight charging.

I always charge it while I sleep. It makes obvious sense.

So if I use my phone during the day, on average I’m between 60 and 80 percent charged at night.

So I can leave it unplugged and start my next day with whatever is left after further discharge through the night, because I’m always getting messages that I check first thing in the morning (I usually leave it plugged in while I read the messages, respond, and until I get out of bed).

So starting my day with whatever is left from the night and prior days use isn’t ideal. Because I do have days where I am heavily using the phone and could be at 50% by noon from a full charge. If I started the day with 60%, and I’m down to 10% by noon, I have a long way to go until 1:00 am when my day tends to end. 10% isn’t going to get me another 13 hours.

And yes, my typical day is 8:00 am until 1:00 am the next morning (frequently ending between 3 am and 4 am). Fortunately, I get more sleep than I used to. I used to end my day at 7:00 am and start again at 8:00 am. I lived that way for 10 years, every day.

I have put my phone on charger every night since May 2008. That's been at least three or four different models of phone (not all iPhones).

Each phone serves as my bedside clock (and alarm) so the screen is on all night.

I've never had any issues.

Charge away at night. It should not affect your battery or phone. The iPhone knows when it is done charging.
