Is it likely that Apple will have an "event" for the launch of their 2013 MP ?

I'm asking because it's been announced at an event already (early 2013) and then given another mention at this weeks event.

If you think they will, please state reasons why and if you think they won't please clarify. I'm not looking for speculation on any displays.

I'd say no because they already went over the details this month. Its like having an event for the iPad mini in November because that's when you can buy it.

The June WWDC "sneak peak" was just as much about cancelling the current Mac Pro as outlining the new one. Those who needed advance notice to get their ducks in a row to buy a classic tower Mac Pro got their warning months in advance to buy it.

The recent October was the actual announce. It is quite similar to last year's iMac announce in October but don't ship anything till December. There were no additional dog and pony shows for when the iMac finally did ship. [ With respect to the classic tower Mac Pro it is also a indicative market of "you snooze. you loose" as the product has now been withdrawn from the market. Slackers can try to find a 3rd party reseller who hasn't emptied out their inventory. ]

There will probably be a press release when they get ready to take pre-orders ( that would probably be a couple of days in advance. )

There is good chance Apple is waiting on the MBP orders to settle down to a steady state so they can see if there are enough Thunderbolt v2 controllers to go around. If the MBP launch bubble last as week or two longer than expected they'll slide the Mac Pro. If the bubble dissipates more quickly than expected they'd move it up slightly.
