30+ years of trouble free connections, now with USB C, if I breathe too hard, disconnection. I've tried several brands, all the same. Why Apple went to this I'll never know! Is anyone aware of a functional USB C cable?

2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 MacBook Pro (the worst 2500 I've ever spent) Sonoma 14.5. In looking around I've found others are having the same problem.same here, no problems. @ibaconi - you use a case? Which Mac model/ macOS version?
you are referring to sudden disconnects of external storage? One possible solution for some affected, is to mount the external drive(s)/device(s) and then kill the usb demon (which is responsible for connect/disconnect/reconnect) from the terminal.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 MacBook Pro (the worst 2500 I've ever spent) Sonoma 14.5. sudo killall -STOP -c usbd
, which pauses the process until you either reboot your Mac or enter the command sudo killall -CONT -c usbd
to restart the process. This often fixes the problem.
