Deciding between Tamron 55-200mm F/4-5.6 and Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS

I'm deciding between Tamron 55-200mm F/4-5.6 and Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS to go with my Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8.

The canon would cost me about £60-80 more.

What do you think would be best?

Never tried the Tammy, but the Canon is very nice given it's cost. Does the Tammy have IS? At that FL it's nice to have. Also, Canon has 50mm extra reach.

I've never used either lens, but the reviews on the Canon 55-250 IS are great:

Seems like a great inexpensive and lightweight alternative to Canon's 70-300IS.
