So I love the deal I received over at Microcenter, over a year ago, a 13" Macbook (not Pro) for $799. Put 8 gigs of RAM in it, but other than that, stock. Now they have 13" MBP (the new ones w/ Thunderbolt) for $999. I'm trying to debate if it would be a sound decision to upgrade, or just save up a bit more and go for the 15" HRAG 2.0 GHZ MBP.
I have my box I setup myself a few years ago, a Core2Duo Windows 7 system, a 2008/9 Mac Mini, which I use as a HTPC mainly, and the aforementioned Macbook.
I use the Macbook on the go, mainly Scrivener/Office, browsing, iLife (mostly iMovie and iPhoto), and some basic multitrack recording.
I use my PC for the heavy lifting (encoding video, playing videogames, etc).
I am looking for a second opinion on "upgrading" the MB to the MBP, or wondering if I should hold off and get the 15" MBP to really supplant my desktop Windows computer. I know the Mac isn't designed for gaming, and it's not my primary focus, but how big of a difference would be the discrete graphics card between the 2.0 and the 2.2 15" MBPS?
Thanks!
