I know the reboot issue was fixed, but this is arguably even worse. Are there any plans to fix this? Is it something that even can be fixed, and would it be Apple or the devs that had the power to do so? Basically defeats the purpose of having defaults if you have to remember to set them after each update.

FYI, this is a repost. I posted a couple of days ago and the thread got no traction, but I find this issue to be pretty much just as serious as the reboot one that was talked about extensively. If reposts are not allowed, or you have to wait a certain time period, or bumps are preferred, let me know.

It could be that no one has experienced the issue. I know that I have not. You might want to be a little more specific. Not knowing details I would say it’s an app specific issue.

That’s valid! I’ll specifically say that Chrome and Gmail both lost their default statuses after updating.

This is a valid problem. Today gmail had an update and after updating the default app was set back to mail. Did this on my iPhone and iPad, both 14.0.1.

Yup, my question is whether it's a glitch on the system level or something for app developers to fix.

Yeah I’m seeing the issue with Gmail. After the last two Gmail updates, my default email reverts to the Apple mail app after Gmail app is updated.

It doesn't really seem like anyone knows for sure, but so far it seems that it's more likely on iOS side of things than on the app side.

Is anyone still having issues with iOS 14 default apps like mail and browser still defaulting back to apple apps even after the 14.0.1 update?

I keep having to change mine back

Huh. I just checked mine and they had both reverted to Mail and Safari. So I switched them back.

yeap! exactly! something is causing them to revert back...im trying to figure out the pattern, doesnt seem to be the reboot this time, im wondering if it has to do with when those apps get updated from the app store

For me it seems related to app updates of those apps set as default. But not 100% sure.

I have the exact same issue. Default browser set to Firefox, and after firefox updated today it revert back to safari as default browser. With this problem, it makes this feature almost useless, because one day I'll just be tired to change it every time and just continue to use the default apple apps as before.

I just checked (as my Firefox has just updated too) and in settings/firefox it's still set as the default. iOS 14.2 beta 3.
