It solves one big, pesky problem of MacOS. It makes the name editing field wider. It's the only software that does this. Is this worth $40? You decide.

Personally, I have always used Default Folder since OS9. But because I still am on Ventura Default Folder X 5 satisfies my needs. Just curious if some of you have upgraded to the latest version.

I mainly just use it to open/save files in hidden open windows when using Adobe apps, been using it for years. Just upgraded to v6. That one feature is worth it for me.

Just like an extension I used to have that collapsed open windows down to their title bar by double clicking them - really miss that workflow vs entourage.

Windowshade was a Haxie and it was one of my favorite utilities when OS X first came out in 2001 (adding a functionality that was in Mac OS 7.5 to OS 9. I would pay good money to have someone write an extension to add that to the current Mac OS

That was the Haxie I was referring to as well, really miss it!

Haven't used it since Snow Leopard or so, but this drop stack feature looks great. Used to use the similar feature in Path Finder, but I guess my file slingin' is slowing down, as I am no longer tempted.

That Drop Stack feature has been in Default Folder X for years. It's a bit buggy in the latest version, as it remains on the screen for a second after switching or closing a Finder window. But it still works as it should. I use Yoink for this feature though, because it works no matter what app you're in, rather than just the Finder.

The wider name editing field alone was worth the $20 upgrade fee for me... it was driving me crazy having to click and drag to get to the end of a file name (or even just clicking the name and hitting the "End" button on the keyboard). Now I can just click right where I want to edit a file name when saving.
