Hi ALL:

Something strange just happened. I was up, watching youtube videos when all the sudden my macbook shut off. A screen came up saying that the "computer restarted because of a problem," or something similar. I immediately took to console. I was looking for strange entries. I found one.

5/31/15 3:54:51.000 AM kernel[0]: 7.15.166.24 (r541488)

Obviously, that's an IP address. So I did a search for it on google. It returns to Washington, D.C., and it belongs to "Defense Network Information Center."

What is this?

Well that string turns up in crash logs across the internet, usually seems related to the Airport card. The "r541488" next to it is also a John Deere exhaust manifold part number. I don't think its "obviously" an ip address after all...but a good one for conspiracy theories :)

Dang those John Deere exhaust manifolds, crashing Macs!

To the OP - don't automatically assume a 4-digit octet is an IP address. You're probably right very often, but will be wrong quite a bit as well.
