Last night I upgraded my phone to 5.1 from 5.0.1.

I then let it charge for about 2 hours from 18% to 100%.

I then unplugged my phone and left it in standby mode from 11pm to 7am.

I checked the phone and it lost only 2% in 8 hours standby mode. (98%)

It's now 9am, I've done a few menial tasks with my phone (checked e-mails, checked Facebook app, checked Twitter app) and it's 96% charge.

Normally I'd be anywhere between 89% and 91% by now, so this is a rather massive improvement for me.

So, altogether, my phone only lost 4% charge in 10 hours of mainly standby mode and minor app usage.

Just figure I would share.

(I know the battery issues are hit-or-miss with some people. I never had a real issue to begin with, but 5.1 makes my 4S more efficient than it was before.)

I'll ramp up my usage this afternoon and report back my findings.

Will do web surfing, undocked music player and other stuff and let you all know how it goes.

i'm hoping for an usage improvement, only standby was improved after 5.0.1

Yea, that's what I'm testing now.

I'm curious how much battery will drop when I open up Infinity Blade 2 LOL - that game is a serious battery muncher. But I'll save that for last.

In fact, IB2 is the game I use to drain my battery below 20% when I want to do a full 100% charge.

I find doing full charges from <20% to 100% gives me the longest battery life in general. I can usually get about 2 days of moderate 4S usage doing it that way, as opposed to charging off and on throughout the day with various docks.

We shall see...

So much for that, barely at an hour and a half usage and already down to 81% from full charge

Very similar improvement here with my 4S. I got through the day OK with 5.0.1 but now battery life is much better.

Better standby time. Worse use time.

Example: By the time I get to work in the morning, my 4S used to be at about 96%. Today, it hung in at 100%. However, I've done some email checking and forum reading, I'm down to 76%. That's utter crap.
