The UK iPhone comes preinstalled with 1.1.2. I'd like to install 3rd party apps on it, using Installer.app. I believe this is called "jailbreaking"? Is it possible to get Installer.app on a new UK iPhone, and are there any side-effects if so?

I don't wish to sacrifice any iPhone features, be that EDGE, or Visual Voicemail, or anything.

You downgrade to 1.1.1, and jailbreak it. Install installer.app, and SSH.. then run the file on installer.app for the pre-1.1.2 jailbreak. Then follow the other guidelines on the board her.

Supposedly you cannot downgrade to 1.1.1 if it came preinstalled with 1.1.2. I don't even know how I would downgrade...

can you unlock if you don't re-upgrade to 1.1.2? Or is it a baseband/bootloader issue? Can you downgrade the baseband/bootloader?
